Shabbify

A Shopify app for Shomer Shabbos businesses — automatically closes your store for Shabbat and Yom Tov based on accurate zmanim, then reopens when it's over. No manual toggling, no calendar tracking.
Problem It Solves
Jewish-owned Shopify stores that observe Shabbat and Yom Tov need to stop selling during those times — but Shopify offers no built-in way to do it. Store owners were left with bad options:
- Manually toggling the store on and off every week — easy to forget, especially when candle-lighting times shift with the seasons
- Tracking the Hebrew calendar themselves — Yom Tov dates change every year, and each holiday has its own start and end times
- Generic maintenance-mode apps that don't understand Jewish observance, zmanim, or the difference between Shabbat and Yom Tov
- Staying open during Shabbos because there was simply no reliable automation
For a Shomer Shabbos business, that's a real halachic and operational problem. Shabbify removes the burden entirely.
Who It's For
Shabbify is built for Jewish-owned Shopify stores that keep Shabbos and observe Yom Tov. Whether you sell clothing, food, furniture, or anything else — if your store should be closed from candle lighting until after havdalah (and through each Yom Tov), Shabbify handles it automatically so you never have to think about it.
Key Features
Accurate, location-based zmanim
Shabbify calculates candle lighting and havdalah times for your store's location using the Hebrew calendar. Shabbat start and end times shift throughout the year — Shabbify tracks that for you. All major Yom Tovim are included, with correct start and end times for each holiday, not just weekly Shabbat.
Flexible closure enforcement
Choose how strictly your store closes during Shabbos and Yom Tov:
- Full storefront restriction — visitors see a closure message instead of browsing products
- Block checkout — customers can browse, but cannot complete a purchase
- Block Add to Cart — the lightest touch; browsing works, but no items can be added
On Shopify Plus, the checkout extension provides deeper control at checkout itself.
Customer-facing messages and countdowns
When the store is closed, Shabbify can display a custom message explaining why the store is unavailable and show a countdown to when it reopens. Customers know exactly when they can come back — no confusion, no abandoned carts from people trying to order during Shabbos.
Set it and forget it
Once configured, Shabbify runs on autopilot:
- Closes your store at the correct time before Shabbat or Yom Tov
- Reopens automatically after havdalah or the end of the holiday
- No weekly maintenance — no reminders, no calendar spreadsheets, no "did I turn the store back on?" moments
Additional capabilities
- Klaviyo notifications — alert subscribers when the store closes and when it reopens
- Test mode for admins — store staff can preview the closed experience or bypass the closure for testing while customers still see the store as closed
- Install from the Shopify App Store — works across Shopify plans; Shopify Plus stores can also use the checkout extension for deeper checkout control
How It Works
- Install Shabbify from the Shopify App Store (or contact us for a custom Plus / checkout-extension setup).
- Set your location so zmanim — candle lighting, havdalah, and Yom Tov times — are calculated correctly for your area.
- Choose your closure mode — full storefront restriction, block checkout only, or block Add to Cart only.
- Customize your message (optional) — tell customers why the store is closed and when it will reopen.
- Walk away — Shabbify closes your store before each Shabbat and Yom Tov and reopens it afterward, every week, all year.
Shabbify was first deployed for Modular Closets and is now available to any Jewish-owned Shopify merchant via the App Store.
